Knitted Knockers

The Yarn Store at Nob Hill is an official Knitted Knockers collection site.

Knitted Knockers are special handmade breast prostheses for people who have had breast cancer and undergone mastectomy or lumpectomy. Traditional breast prosthetics can be hot, heavy and sticky. They typically require special bras or camisoles with pockets and can’t be worn for weeks after surgery. Knitted Knockers are soft, comfortable, beautiful and when placed in a regular bra they take the shape and feel of a real breast. They are adjustable, washable and can even be worn while swimming. Our special volunteer knitters provide these FREE to those requesting them.  To learn more about this program, please visit the official site for Knitted Knockers.

We donate these prosthetics to the local community and work closely with the UNM Cancer Center to distribute them to those in need. If you or someone you know has a need or would like to volunteer to make Knitted Knockers, please let us know! We can be reached at yarnstoreabq@gmail.com or 505-717-1535.  The prosthetics can be knitted or crocheted, but must use specifically pre-approved yarns for medical reasons.  The official patterns and pre-approved yarns can be viewed or downloaded from the following page:
